487 Estate / Urenui / Taranaki
Heather and Byron - these two were just dreamy. Heather is just the biggest sweetheart you'll ever meet, so thoughtful and caring, I loved working on her wedding with her, and although I didn't actually meet Byron until the day of the wedding, he was totally her match. Heather is a hairdresser at Cleaver & Rouge in New Plymouth and Byron farms out near Uruiti just down the road from the venue they choose, the newly done 487 Estate (formerly the old Mike's Brewery), which is this little country gem nestled next to the state highway on route to New Plymouth, so it had this really lovely sense of connection to place. Heather and her girls (who I feel like I need to apologise to - almost all haidressers, practically every photo I have of them has their hair totally windswept looking nothing like the gorgeous original style!) got ready at The King and Queen Hotel Suites, just opposite the Govett Brewster / Len Lye art gallery. There were so many beautiful touches - the flowers from The Gatherers were just gorgeous, the bride had the most divine earrings (locally made I believe - if you know by who drop me a line!), the celebrant Thais Farrant was eloquent - everything came together just beautifully. For the wedding photos we headed just nearby to the gorgeous white cliffs that line that part of the Taranaki coastline, and are just spectacular, along with an old building I had spotted on the side of the road (I spend alot of time driving around looking for spots to shoot near venues!).
